Camp NaNoWriMo - Day 15: Setbacks

I'm beginning to think that saving documents directly to my flash drive is causing some problems.  I was pasting all of my completed chapters into one document so I'd have something to refer to when I have questions as to how things happened.  It turns out that a chunk of Chapter 7 got corrupted somehow.  It was even more garbled than yesterday's mishap and pretty well unreadable.  I was able to rewrite a lot of it from memory but it looks like I lost close to 400 words, lowering my wordage to 35,261.

The morning hasn't been all bad, however.  I did write down what needs to happen in each of the next five days in Cooper's life.  I also jotted down some backstory that Nathaniel will be revealing soon.

If I keep up my current pace, I should hit 50k by next Wednesday or Thursday.  I'm hoping to be a couple chapters ahead by the time Monday rolls around, however.

Damn setbacks.

  1. About the flashdrive thing, I thought it was just me. Last night, I lost an entire folder (story, background info, etc) to gobbledegoop. Thankfully I'd saved an older version of it on my desktop. I'm gonna try saving everything to my desktop and then just moving it over like you suggested.

  2. That's not fun! I've been saving all my writing to my desktop and then sending a copy to my email as a backup. I hope you don't have any more technological problems.

  3. I'm going back to dragging things to my flash drive instead of saving directly on it. Google Docs is another option.
